What's in the Starter Guide

43 pages in four parts: the mechanism (the Pressure Loop, the Trust Ladder, the Trust Meter), the four ground rules, a toolkit of scripts and food ideas, and the 21 day cards. Printable trackers, a fridge sheet, a sitter and grandparent page, troubleshooting and a "when to get help" page are at the back.

How the daily routine works

Do Day 0 setup once (about 20 minutes). Then each day has one small card: what to do, what to say and which rung your child reached. Most cards take a minute. Tick the rung, note the win, and move on. A look counts. A sniff counts.

The four ground rules

You choose what, when and where; your child decides whether and how much. One safe food always on the plate, and no second dinner. Hunger timing: calm, predictable meals and snacks. Judge the week, not the meal.

What the Kid Kit adds

Printable posters, a Food Explorer Passport, rung badges, plate mats, 12 food-friend cards and choice cards. Stickers celebrate noticing, never eating, so they don't turn into bribes.

Compatibility

The guides are PDFs that open on any phone, tablet or computer. Print at 100% on US Letter paper. The optional Trust Tracker is built for Microsoft Excel 2016 or newer, with no macros. It can open in Google Sheets, but some formatting may not display as intended.

The 6 PM standoff

You know the advice. It all disappears at 6:47 PM.

Offer it again. Don't force it. Stay calm. You've read all of it. Then dinner starts, a spoon of broccoli is held out at arm's length, and the advice leaves your head.

So you do what any tired parent does. You say "just one bite." You promise dessert. You make the nuggets. Your child pushes back, and dinner turns into a battle.

That's not a willpower problem. It's a loop: you worry, you push, they resist, it becomes a battle, and you worry more. The Trust Ladder is built to get you out of it.

The Pressure Loop and Trust Meter pages from the Trust Ladder Starter Guide

Why "just one bite" keeps failing

Eating is the last rung, not the first.

"Take a bite" skips four steps. A child has to get comfortable with a food before they're ready to eat it. The Trust Ladder puts those steps back, and counts each one as a win.

  1. 5

    Taste

A real bite, with no pressure to swallow

  2. 4

    Lick

A lick, a kiss, a nibble they can spit out

  3. 3

    Touch

A finger, a poke, helping prep

  4. 2

    Smell

A sniff, a whiff, leaning in

  5. 1

    See

The food is on the table and they notice it

Kids skip up and down the rungs. That's normal. Every rung counts.

Built on well-known feeding ideas, including repeated calm exposure and the division of responsibility (you choose what, when and where; your child chooses whether and how much). Sources are listed in the guide. Not a promise of results.

What the 21 days look like

From the nightly standoff to one small step a day.

  1. 1

    Day 0 (20 minutes)

Pick 3 foods, set your meal and snack times, and learn the 4 ground rules. That's all the prep.

  2. 2

    Week 1: Be around it

Tiny amounts on the table, zero pressure. Your only job is to make the food familiar. Most days, nothing happens. That's the plan.

  3. 3

    Week 2: Get hands on

Wash it, stir it, poke it, squish it. Playing with food counts. A finger on a floret is a try.

  4. 4

    Week 3: Taste and repeat

A pea-size taste with a napkin ready. Spit-outs count. Then start the next food and keep the old ones coming.

  5. 5

    After Day 21

Keep the rhythm: one new food a week. New foods often take weeks or months, so you keep score in small wins, not finish lines.

A clear fit matters

Is the Trust Ladder right for your family?

It's focused on one thing. Here's what it's built for, and what it's not.

Built for you if…

  • Your 2 to 6 year old refuses most foods and dinner feels like a fight
  • You've tried "just one bite," bribes or hiding veggies, and you're worn out
  • You know the calm advice but can't stay calm in the moment
  • You make a second dinner because it's easier than the battle
  • Mom, Dad, Grandma and the sitter all handle dinner differently
  • You want a step-by-step plan, not another list of tips
  • You'd rather print it and tick boxes than learn another app

Choose something else if…

  • ✕Your child has weight loss, gagging, choking or another health worry. Call your pediatrician first
  • ✕Your child is under 2 or over 6. The guide is written for ages 2 to 6
  • ✕You want recipes or a meal plan. This is a behavior plan, not a cookbook
  • ✕You want a cure in a weekend. New foods often take weeks or months

If the core plan is what you need, start with Starter at $29.99 and use the 30-day refund window to try it at your table.

I finally stopped saying “just one bite”

Night 3 was the first dinner in months where nobody cried. She didn’t eat the chicken, but she sniffed it and said “smells funny.” I ticked rung 2 and moved on. The scripts on page 15 saved me from myself.

Counting sniffs changed my mood more than her eating

I used to judge every dinner by how many bites went in. Now I’m looking for a look, a poke, a lick. It sounds small, but my shoulders aren’t up around my ears at 6 PM anymore.

The fridge page won over my mother-in-law

She means well and it was always “take one bite for Grandma.” I put the one-page sheet on the fridge and didn’t say a word. She read it, laughed, and started asking him to smell the food instead.

Worth it for the scripts alone

I knew what not to say but never what to say instead. “It’s here if you want it” has ended more standoffs in two weeks than anything I tried in two years.

Good plan, but give it more than 21 days

My son moved from “see” to “touch” on three foods, but nothing has been eaten yet. The guide does warn it can take many tries, so I’m carrying on into the next weeks. Dinner is calmer, and that alone was worth it.

The Trust Jar got my 3-year-old on board

We bought the Family Kit and she colors in her jar every night. She calls the sniffs “brave smells.” I never mention eating. Having something for her to own took a lot of heat out of the table.

Tonight's dinner

Tonight, put one tiny bowl on the table. Say nothing.

That's Day 1. A look counts. A sniff counts. Start the plan tonight, and stop fighting about bites. One payment, and the files are yours to keep.

Still deciding?

The questions parents ask before they buy.

What ages is this for?

Ages 2 to 6. The steps, scripts and printables are written for that stage, when "no" is a favorite word and food jags are common. If your child is younger or older, the ideas still apply, but the guide isn't written for them.

I already know the advice. Why would this be different?

Knowing the advice isn't the hard part. Staying calm while a tired little person pushes the plate away is. The Trust Ladder gives you one small step a day, the exact words to say, and a loop to watch for, so you're not winging it at 6:47 PM.

Will I have to stop asking my child to try things?

You'll swap pressure for invitations. Instead of "just one bite," you put a tiny amount on the table or plate and say, "It's here if you want it." A look, a sniff and a poke all count. Your child decides whether and how much to eat, and you decide what, when and where.

How long until my child eats it?

No one can promise that. The plan runs 21 days, and the guide says plainly that new foods often take weeks or months. Research on repeated exposure suggests familiarity builds over many calm tries. You'll track small wins along the way, so you can see progress before the bites show up.

My child eats almost nothing. Is this too much, or not enough?

Most picky eating is a normal stage. But weight loss, gagging, choking, vomiting at meals, or a very short list of accepted foods are reasons to call your pediatrician. The Starter Guide has a "When to get help" page. This is not a treatment and not medical advice.

What are the three plans?

Starter is the full 43-page guide with the 21-day plan, scripts, trackers, a fridge sheet and a sitter page. Family Kit adds a 19-page printable Kid Kit so your child can play along. Complete adds the 27-page Kid Profile Playbooks and the Excel Trust Tracker. Every plan is a one-time payment.

Do stickers and rewards turn into bribes?

The Kid Kit is built to prevent that. Stickers and certificates celebrate noticing (a look, a sniff, a touch), never eating. The kit's one rule: never say "one bite for a sticker." If a sticker starts working like a bribe, put the sheet away for a few days.

What do I need to use it?

A phone, tablet or computer to read the PDF, and a home printer if you want the trackers and kit. Print at 100% on US Letter paper. The optional Trust Tracker is an Excel file (Excel 2016 or newer).

Can my partner, grandparent or sitter use it too?

Yes. The guide includes a one-page fridge sheet and a sitter and grandparent page, so everyone follows the same rules. You may print pages for the people who care for your child. Please don't share the files or download links outside your household.

What does Future Updates mean?

If you add Future Updates + Priority Support, updated versions of the files you bought (fixes, new pages and new tools) are emailed to you at no extra cost for as long as we offer your plan, plus front-of-the-line email support. It doesn't include custom work or new products. If we ever stop offering your plan or close the site, we can end it with notice by email, and you keep the files you already downloaded. See our Terms of Service for details.

Is it safe to pay online?

Yes. Payment is handled by Whop, a third-party payment platform, right on our checkout page. Your card details go straight to them and never touch our servers. Everything is priced and charged in US dollars.

How do I get the files after I pay?

Once payment is confirmed, your download links appear on the confirmation page and are emailed to you, usually within a few minutes. Check spam if you don't see the email, or write to us and we'll resend it.

What if it's not right for us?

Try it for a few weeks. If it doesn't make mealtimes clearer and calmer than what you do now, email us within 30 days of purchase for a refund under the Refund Policy.
